Robotics Design Team

With the Robotics Design Team, I have developed skills in CAD specifically in Onshape. As a mechanical engineer on the excavation team, I was responsible for the testing, designing, and manufacturing of the tensioning system.

Above is the bird’ eye and below is the side view of the prototype for a jack-screw tensioning system.  The Design was made using CAD on Onshape. The design was simple in that would be attached to the side of the Robots conveyor belt arm and can tension the belt by adjusting the width of the two main components using a wrench.

Final Design for Tensioning system (3pt perspective)

Below is the three-point perspective of the final CAD model of the jack screw tensioning system of the Robot. The final design was adjusted to fit the unique geometry of the conveyor belt arm and its rotary motor. The system tensions the same as the prototype by adjusting the length of arms using a wrench.
